Indoor Air Quality Inspections (IAQ)
With distance learning and remote working having greatly increased due to COVID-19, we are all spending a lot more time in our homes!
Many agree that this is going to be a trendóeven when COVID-19 is under control. Therefore, our environment and indoor air quality (IAQ) is more important than ever. I want to briefly discuss an aspect of IAQ that is impossible to detect just by smell or sightóradon
Hundreds of thousands of people across the nation have taken the US Surgeon General's recommendation to test their homes, or homes they are purchasing. Where elevated levels of radon are confirmed, they have taken decisive steps to reduce their exposure by employing cost-effective and proven techniques.
Many people are not aware of the health issues related to radon. Here is what the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommend that all home sell/purchase transactions have a radon measurement performed. If you have not tested your home recently, you should have it tested. Also, if you have any major renovation work done, or you change out your HVAC system, you should have a radon test performed. If you have a system to reduce radon in your home, it should be tested every two years.
